This book was fantastic！ （And yes， this is a Ninth Doctor reference since Christopher Eccleston is the audiobook narrator）This is exactly what I want from a crime/procedural novel。 It keeps you guessing until the end with a few twists and turns along the way。 All of the characters are intriguing， and I enjoyed how the author used each chapter to focus on a specific character （and in the case of Tom， would write in first person considering the rest was in third）。 The plot moves quickly as well， a This book was fantastic！ （And yes， this is a Ninth Doctor reference since Christopher Eccleston is the audiobook narrator）This is exactly what I want from a crime/procedural novel。 It keeps you guessing until the end with a few twists and turns along the way。 All of the characters are intriguing， and I enjoyed how the author used each chapter to focus on a specific character （and in the case of Tom， would write in first person considering the rest was in third）。 The plot moves quickly as well， and just when you think it's slowing down， something happens that will want you to read "just one more chapter。"I can't recommend the audiobook highly enough。 Christopher Eccleston does a marvelous job reading it。 His narration style perfectly captures the tone of the novel。 In a world full of crime and police thrillers， The Whisper Man deserves to stand out from the rest。 5/5 easily。 。。。more

3。5 Story wise， great creepy unsettling vibes。 Not a huge fan of all the POVS， really felt like a few could have been cut out to tighten it up。 As for the audiobook it was absolutely awful。 Having been on sort of an audiobook streak lately （over 20 at least） I have such a better appreciation for narrators who actually try to make the story feel like it's come alive rather than just reading it like a textbook。 This almost ruined the entire thing for me。 I really should have just read the phys 3。5 Story wise， great creepy unsettling vibes。 Not a huge fan of all the POVS， really felt like a few could have been cut out to tighten it up。 As for the audiobook it was absolutely awful。 Having been on sort of an audiobook streak lately （over 20 at least） I have such a better appreciation for narrators who actually try to make the story feel like it's come alive rather than just reading it like a textbook。 This almost ruined the entire thing for me。 I really should have just read the physical copy when by 20% it was like listening to paint dry。I thought having Christopher Ecclestone as a narrator would be a really cool。 Louise Brealey （who played Molly in the BBC series Sherlock did a wonderful job with her sections of the Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides。 Ecclestone was SO BORING。 This to me is what I feel like people expect when they think of an audiobook， someone just reading at you for 10 hours。 Maybe I've been lucky that the narrators I've listened to are all just really talented。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Story took a while to develop but once it got good it lost me on the continuity of how things had played out。2 things in particular:1。 After police admitted not taking Tom seriously， Detective Amanda Beck realized they made a mistake。 Yet after Jake is kidnapped， Amanda is made to not take what Tom's tells her seriously。 That didn't make sense at all。 Tom said he is going to school， Amanda said don't， and then she just sits at the station。 Totally not believable at all。2。 After Tom ties George t Story took a while to develop but once it got good it lost me on the continuity of how things had played out。2 things in particular:1。 After police admitted not taking Tom seriously， Detective Amanda Beck realized they made a mistake。 Yet after Jake is kidnapped， Amanda is made to not take what Tom's tells her seriously。 That didn't make sense at all。 Tom said he is going to school， Amanda said don't， and then she just sits at the station。 Totally not believable at all。2。 After Tom ties George to his son， he runs off on his own to confront him and decides not to engage the police， even after this could be the man who brutally stabbed his father and has his son prisoner。 Totally not believable at all。 。。。more

while this did feel a little slow starting out for me， when you consider my ADHD brain and the intricate details it takes to make a thriller novel， it is of no reflection of of the book or author。 once i caught on， i was flying through the pages and grasping at anything that happened next。 it was a great book！ i don’t read thrillers very often but this has me adding some to my lists。 the adrenaline rush was fantastic。

I loved this one！ It’s so sad and so scary all at the same time。 I’m still not sure if Jake’s imaginary friends are in his head or ghosts but maybe that’s the point。 What if ALL imaginary friends are ghosts really？ I wouldn’t be surprised 😂 Give this a go if you like building tension and a sad story

If you leave a door half open， soon you’ll hear the whispers spoken。 If you play outside alone， soon you won’t be going home。 If your window’s left unlatched， you’ll hear him tapping at the glass。 If you’re lonely， sad， and blue， the Whisper Man will come for you。 At first I had a hard time keeping up with the different POVs， but once I got it all sorted out in my head I enjoyed the book。 It has a satisfying circular plot with several intertwined layers。 Would read again。
